The cabin is built from huge pine logs in the traditional Scandinavian style to award winning standrds, throughout there are wooden floors. This remarkable construction method means that everything has been designed to allow the wood to move and shrink; windows and door frames and even the stair case have telescopic joints to allow for the estimated 8% movement.
The smell of natural pine when you first enter is something to experience and the superb insulating qualities of wood means that the cabin is warm in the coldest winters and cool in the hottest summers. There is no shortage of logs to burn in the fire, which creates a welcoming cosy atmosphere when it is cold outside.
The house sits in over an acre of land covered in maple trees and dotted with huge rocks from ancient volcanoes and the oldest mountain range in Noth America.
Cote Nord is part of a large eco-friendly managed estate which is strictly a conservation area. Everything is done by the estate managers to preserve and encourage the natural flora and fauna. Wild life, especially birds (even the occassional humming bird) and deer are frequently seen, whilst in the spring time the forest is bright with woodland flowers.
The log cabin, has been built following the contours of the mountain, over three floors. The top floor has the master bedroom which is en suite and one other bedroom along with another well equipped bathroom. The middle floor has a toilet/cloakroom, a huge living/dining area and the kitchen which has access to the large deck wrapping around half the house. The deck is perfect for summer barbecues. The lower floor has two further bedrooms a bathroom and a "den" in which the satellite television and dvd/video are found. For a floor plan click here
All the bedrooms are generously proportioned, two have double beds and two have twin beds. All towels and bed linen are provided and the house will be serviced and cleaned approximately twice a week. On request we can provide cots for babies.
Outside and facing the mountains and the maple wood we have installed a hot tub, try it at night when the stars light up the sky for an unforgettable experience.
For the bird lovers we have constructed bird feeders strung between the trees, giving eye level visibility from the deck of the many different varieties to be found in the area. Dont forget to fill the feeders when you are there if you want to see the birds.
